As many of you know, 2017 marks our thirteenth year for the Almost Heaven Star Party (AHSP). It’s is my pleasure to announce, on behalf of the Almost Heaven Star Party organizing team, that early registration for the 2017 event is now open for you with the special code below.
AHSP 2017 begins on Friday, July 21 and ends the morning of Tuesday, July 25. The timing of this year’s event allows participants to enjoy four observing nights.
Registration fees rose $5 this year for the first time in my attending or running the event as Registration now costs $85 for the first participant (this will rise to $105 on June 1). Additional adults sharing the same campsite are $45. Registration for children 12 and under are free–and since this year’s event occurs in the summer we will be planning kids events including our rocket building and launch.
Take advantage of the $20 early bird registration by using the special code early730. www.ahsp.org/home/registration
Spruce Knob Mountain Center’s tasty and creative hot meals will once again be available as an option for those who would like them, at $35/day (adults) and $25/day (children) but you won’t be washing your dishes this year!
Assignments to an observing field are on a first-come, first-served basis, though–so register early to ensure that your location of choice is available! This is especially important for those bringing a large RV. We have a limited number of field spaces available to large RVs in order to ensure availability of the relatively level ground needed by these vehicles.
We will continue to strive to do everything in our power to make sure that everyone is having the best time at our star party as we do every year. If you have any questions please refer to the website www.ahsp.org or if you can’t find what you need let me know at email@example.com how we can assist you.
It’s still early days planning wise so we are still working on speakers but expect to have a terrific program of speakers and hands-on instruction as usual. This year unfortunately due to a event timing conflicts we won’t be offering the NRAO tour or overnight hands-on radio astronomy. We will still have the Cass Mountain Railroad excursion, and we have added a Beaver Dam and Water Ecology hike to even out the activity offerings. The AHSP website will be updated on a regular basis as we firm up the schedule but the base events are set in the registration.
Don’t wait, register early! AHSP has sold out every year since 2010, and we expect this year will be no exception with the last three selling out before the end of the early bird period!
Clear skies, and we look forward to seeing you at AHSP 2017!
